Condecoran por descubrimiento revolucionario en la inmunoterapia al Prof. Shimon Sakaguchi
Al investigador japonés Prof. Shimon Sakaguchi de la Universidad de Osaka le ha sido otorgado el renombrado Premio Paul Ehrlich por su descubrimiento de células T reguladoras, las cuales investigó en los años 90. Las células T reguladoras son un subgrupo de las células T, cuya tarea consiste en frenar o regular la activación del sistema inmune. De esta manera evitan el desarrollo de enfermedades autoinmunes, pero también pueden obstruir reacciones inmunitarias necesarias para combatir el cáncer. Por ello las tomamos en cuenta en la Inmunoterapia IOZK.
